OK, first things ... well done Wix, I'm impressed.

There are a few problems i experienced so far which mainly consist of positioning problems as mentioned above.

a) I created a quick test harness that you can view at : http://bit.ly/k0fVW which obviously demonstrates the positioning issues. You will see colored boxes which indicate where the HTML container was sized and positioned in the editor and you will see the displacement that occurs when the HTM is rendered. Tried multiple sizes of HTML containers and width & heights in embed code but couldn't find a sweet spot where the random positioning resolved itself.

The harness tests these various scenarios:

1. embedding Kyte TV

2. embedding in a mini-page (Kyte TV again) to see if i could contain the positioning... no luck... it will render itself outside the mini-page.

3. iframing Issuu pdf magazine flip books.

4. embeds of videos (vimeo, youtube, toufee swfs (via flex)

b) Other issue i noticed is that putting an HTML embed container on the landing page results in no rendering of the HTML container unless the same container is rendered on another page and you revisit the landing page.

c) when you are in the editor and you preview, it is obvious that the HTML rendering is floated over the WIx stage but problem resides in that the scroll bars for moving around the stage will only affect the WIx stage background, not the floated HTML rendered. This is only a problem in editor preview and does not persist on live viewing.

Tested on Safari (Version 3.2.1 (5525.27.1)) & Firefox (Firefox/3.0.11) Mac Leopard (10.5.6) and also tested on Win XP Prof (latest build updates) & Firefox 3.0.12

OK, thats it for now, I will do some more embeds of different services and feed back again, just wanted to give early feedback on first experience.

All in all this is a very good start... well done again.

Default Hmmm...doesn't work for me :-(

Hi Sheer,

Unfortunately, after few trials, the same result...all I see on the preview page (after saving, although not necessary, I guess) is the html text only (i.e., ONE - îñôø 1 áñôåøè). I tried using http://, although I guess it should be added automatically. In any case, there is no link to the html, but the text only. Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Andrei

Default My HTML test site

Here is my link:
http://www.labs.wix.com/marniegrove/html-testing

I used 3 codes: a clock, a chat box and a real media player.

Sometimes the link loads all 3 HTML parts, and sometimes it doesn't load anything.

Even though I placed all three codes within the site frame, the chat box keeps getting out of the site.

Other than that, it looks like a good start

Wink Additional feedback

Further feedback:-

So far, I have tested, Kyte tv, Vimeo, Youtube HD, Toufee swf embedding, SWFObject 2,2 embedding (works a treat), Wufoo forms (html embedding, iframing, javascript embedding), Wufoo reports, drop.io content embedding (images and FLVs), Zoho spreadsheets, dabbleDB database table views.

Apart from the frame sizing & positioning reported previously, everything rendered and interacted fine... it's looking really good

Will update more as i go.
