Talking Pioneers Mission Possible III

Hey Guys!

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is waiting in your inbox!
(Please check spam/junk mail in case it's there)

As you'll see there's a lot of new stuff to play with. And when you're done, here's the space for your comments.

As always we REALLY appreciate your time, feedback and suggestions helping us to improve Wix.com!

So, what do you think? Comments please

Nat & Adva

P.S. Here's the short list of questions again so you don't have to go back and forth to your email:

- Areas - Useful? Did you notice the help?
- Upload/Download Documents - Do your files upload/download ok?
- How’s the scrollbar paragraph?
- How's the twitter feed working?
- Contact Form:do the new color and language capabilities work?
- How is the new Thumbnail Gallery?
- Are the new Manage & Expand easy to use? And what about the new navigation aspect in Expand/Zoom mode?

Other comments? Any evil bugs?

Wink looking good

- Areas - Useful? Did you notice the help?
areas will save me time making rounded corners

- Upload/Download Documents - Do your files upload/download ok?
tested PDF - worked fine. need folders for organising our media

- How’s the scrollbar paragraph?
scrollbar is brilliant!

- How's the twitter feed working?
didnt test twitter

- Contact Form:do the new color and language capabilities work?
colours are good. need to change colour of send button, maybe use our own image. also, i prefer the old-style DIY form.

- How is the new Thumbnail Gallery?
good. but most people will want the large image separate from the thumbnails, rather than enlarging on top of them. a workaround is moving the manual zoom image to where you want it, then covering that area with a transparent shape so you cant close the large image. but, users will want the large image to show from the start, without having to click a thumbnail first

- Are the new Manage & Expand easy to use? And what about the new navigation aspect in Expand/Zoom mode?
better - nav arrows on enlarged images is good (could do with a close link - just an X, as it is not immediately obvious to some how to close the image), and option for titles &/or descriptions is nice. but we need better photo organisation tools - still can only move up or down. need scrollbar on the enlarged images for long descriptions.

a big must is control over transition timing - they are still too quick and dont look professional. extra transition effects would be nice too.

no html box to test...

i see some interesting nuggets in the testing section - goto state on rollover - that would be very useful. however, it would also need a goto state on mouseout.

i presume the register box is to encourage other users to sign up thru our sites, like an affiliate program?

comments would be good too.

Default Feedback

Nice changes. I think the ability to scroll text and to include direct links to documents are both really useful. Up to now it has been design heavy for art and media purposes, but now it can be really useful for a much wider range of things. I want to play around with this to see about producing teaching materials for school children now.

Keep the changes coming

Peter

Be sure to check out the area and scrolltext skins (available under "Replace" button on the property panel).

Also be sure to check out the new picture galleries skins that change proportions according to picture and/or editor frame.

Thanks

Feedback on the latest update

- Areas - Useful? Did you notice the help?
Yes, Areas are neat and will assist in layout planning and templates especially... also making publishing of them as media inserts to a user media directory very handy for common groups of building elements. Yep, some nice skins. The help notice is a nice touch to bring attention to new features.

- Upload/Download Documents - Do your files upload/download ok?

Sorry haven't had time to check this out yet

- How’s the scrollbar paragraph?

Scrollbar paragraph is really great and the margin is a nice touch. Love the different scroller and shape skins for it. Think you should change the name though "Choose a line"" is a bit non intuitive.

An auto-scroll setting would be very neat to have!

- How's the twitter feed working?

Didn't test twitter... i'm not a user of it.

- Contact Form:do the new color and language capabilities work?

Liked the colouring form ability and the different form skins... great. Don't understand your language question?

- How is the new Thumbnail Gallery?

Thumbnail gallery is great and you provide very usefuland easy customising controls and the use of the new expand, manual size and positioning makes it very useful.

Yes i liked the proportionate display on the galley thumbs.

- Are the new Manage & Expand easy to use? And what about the new navigation aspect in Expand/Zoom mode?

I like the new expand functionality...especially the sizing and positioning on the "Manual Expand" and glad you made navigation an optional setting as many times navigation gets in the way... other times you want it. I also like the fact that you can specify no background to the expanded image so that borders are not seen like they are on other lightboxes.. great

Bugs
Btw don't know if it is new or an old one..Choose Media Skin for menus... the button selection seems to be one selection example too late e.g select Up and Down and you get Zipper Button

All in all some very nice stuff... well done!

I am praying this isn't the end of the new features in this release... desperately want the HTML component... i know i know but it really is a new ground breaker.

Keep up the excellent work.

Default Contact Form

They sound excellent additions Wix. Are things changing too fast. had several comments on it today morning, and now that I saw in the afternoon and had corrected.
The only comment is that even you can not change language and color in the contact form.
Thanks for delivering an ever better product quality

Thumbs down Dissapointed unfortunately

I see the point of the scroller and the .doc upload/dload features. but the twitter feed seems completely pointless and I know i would never use it for anything on my sites.

The updates are 'coming along' but i have to say that i am overall disappointed with this one.
I think that your devs should really put together a priority list of what Wix REALLY needs to progress; not a 'what is easiest to develop comes first' approach.

No sign in system as of yet? Very disappointing, I can tell you know that if you integrated the sign in system you have on the Wix home page into the builder, the current 700,000 odd users would go up by another 700,000 in a month.

Please don't let a good opportunity like this go, you have the market - you are on top in fact. But with these pointless and insignificant updates will come a loss of interest very VERY quickly. I have waited for months for features that i have mentioned in the forums, only to receive so little.

I hate to dim the mood, but really. Wix is starting to lag behind in my opinion.

Prioritize your updates. Actually listen to the ideas on these forums, and pump them out quick. Or something bigger and better WILL come along and steal your glory in the next few years.

~Tom

Lightbulb Community features are on their way...

Hey Tom (and everyone)

The good news first:
A compilation of community features - like sign up - are in the works!

We take all your feedback really seriously and things like upload, twitter etc from this version are driven directly from the requests we get via the forum and emails to Wix

So please keep your feedback coming - and know we listen

Nat, I must say, as much as i like the new features and have already said such, they will not make up for the mainstream features i expected.

I have held back a couple of projects on the expectation of the HTML container, the Sign Up and private and public section access control. I have another project that is waiting for a richer set of behavior events... like playing our own sounds on click or rollover events for example (which is another common wish i have seen).

"In the works" is nice but won't keep our bread on the table while we wait, so we need to look for other projects which are not dependent on these features... if they will not be in place in this update.

If this is the end of the feature inclusion for this update, it would be good of Wix to tell us so that we can at the least address our work issues appropriately... if there is a list of small feature changes it would also be nice to see them... some of them could be a big feature for a waiting project.

Another, important issue which is a general industry standard with updates is a bug list fixed report... is there one for this update?

Hoping there is more but knowing definitely what will not be in it is more helpful than silence... especially with a feature as fundamentally important and popular as the HTML container.

Hoping you can help us too as much as we like helping you test out new stuff
