Default Minipages background color / Template

I found this "Jasmine Nova" template:
http://i30.tinypic.com/205p311.jpg

As you can see the minipage color is different than the menu/background color.

When I clicked to edit this template, the whole thing was ALL black. It did not match what is shown in this image.
So, I have two questions:

1. How do I make the minipages only a different color? Can I use one of the patterns or does it have to be a solid color?

2. In the image I posted, the pinkish line that separates the menu bar from the minipages, how is that done?

Both of them are being done by the same component type, clip-art > shapes.
Simply choose the desired shape and edit it color/size wise.

Cheers,

Are you sure? I just looked at shapes and nothing matched it.

Is it a frame? When I tried a frame and enlarged it to the size of the minipage, it became 2 inches thick even though I went into options and made it as thin as possible.

Isn't the part between the menu and minipage just a line?

Ok, so I found that in CLIP art> lines I can get the straight line.

Still can't figure out which shape or what I need to use to make the minipages background a different color.

When you go to "Create" on here this template shows up in the options area:

http://i30.tinypic.com/205p311.jpg

It shows that the minipage is a different color than the rest, but when you go to "Edit" the entire template is black.

Can't figure what shape I need to make the minipages one color. Can I use a pattern or does it have to be a solid color?

If I choose the correct shape, do I need to make it transparent?

Ok so this is making me crazy.

I tried adding a square shape, but when I used transparet, it looked terrible. The text looked all faded.

Am I supposed to put the shape behind the image and text? How do I do that?

Ok, looks great. thank you!

Are you saying you made the menu and the bottom part shapes instead of the minipage itself? So the full background is blue but the black parts which you did by shapes?

no....I went by the exact steps that I posted..if you follow them sequentially it should be pretty easy to see what I did...the shapes are just to cover the round edges of the mini-page and provide a black background for the lines...if you still don't get it after you try repost where you ran into trouble and I'll clarify if I can...
