Default Person with 10" screen says the site is too small

I have the page settings on 1024 x 768 and I changed the settings from Best Fit to True Fit to see if it would look better on her screen even though I know she'll have to scroll and she now she says the site is too big any suggestions to find a middle ground?

Default

is it a mini laptop or a really old and small desktop monitor?

if it's an old desktop monitor then the best fit for her monitor is probably 800 x 600, but that is a rarity these days and if she adjusts her screen resolution to 800 x 600 (under display settings) a site that is set up for 1024 x 768 is going to scroll both ways.

if it's a mini laptop then she could try adjusting the monitor resolution 800 x 600, but again, it's likely going to scroll both ways and look a bit fuzzy too.

if it's important for you to reach people with small or 800 x 600 resolution monitors, what you can do is have a jump page at the front of your site and have links to 2 versions, one appropriate for 800 x 600 and one for 1024 x 768 - 1280 x 800. range.

if she is using a pc, one other option she could try is to hold down on the "control" key and scroll forward with the wheel very slowly until the image on her screen is large enough for her to see clearly. i don't know how this works on a mac.
