Default Major trouble connecting to my domain name

Hi Folks.

Right from the get-go, I've been impressed with Wix. Created a nice site for myself (took 2 weeks to do a nice job), upgraded so I can use my own domain, then wham! the trouble started. It's been almost 4 days and my domain name still is not working. Apparently many others on this forum are having the same problem, so why isn't Wix doing something about it? My business exposure is on the line here at a critical time!

There is no phone support and Premium email support just keeps repeating the same message over and over: "Tell your domain host to point your domain name to DNS 216.139.213.144." When I go to Who.is: Whois, Website, Domain Name, and IP Tools - Who.is, it CLEARLY SHOWS that my domain is pointed to the right DNS. When you ping my domain name on the same site, it also points to the correct DNS. So whose responsibility is it to get this right? We've done our part, now it's up to Wix to do theirs.

Wix has created a wonderful interface to help the non-techies build an outstanding and innovative site. So how can they expect us to jump thru all of the technical hoops and lingo when things don't work? Or ignore questions like the who.is info above that was sent to premium support email as a screenshot showing my case? Come on Wix support, you can do better than this!

I can see by the amount of recent activity in this form on the subject that Wix could be doing more to resolve issues other than pointing people to premium support where we keep going around in the same circles. Please let's get it fixed!

Thanks, johndziner

Default a record

common problem. i just answered someone else about this yesterday in another thread.
it doesn't have anything to do with the DNS. you need to change the A RECORD to the wix ip, and leave the DNS blank.

I saw this answer on another post but it is not for us non-techies. Please explain what the A Record is and how to do what you are suggesting. Can I do this myself or is this an instruction for my domain name host? Is the Wix IP 216.139.213.144? (Signing off, will try your suggestions tom'w if answered). Thanks, Mario, for your help.

TEXTBOOKPERFECT.COM NAME SERVERS
ns1.startlogic.com66.96.142.100

Burlington, MA, US

ns2.startlogic.com65.254.254.136

Burlington, MA, US

Doesn't look to me like it's pointing to Wix, does it.
66.96.134.64 IS NOT WIX

You really shouldn't go off at wix if you don't know what you're talking about.

It depends on which domain registrar you are using. Do they let you control this from your Control Panel? If not, ask them to do it.

Sorry, Mario, but its been frustrating not getting pointed to a solution to the problem, that's been my experience with Wix premium support (and others posting here). Thanks to Kat, I may have found the solution to my problem and have passed that along to my domain name host. (Thanks Kat!) I admitted I didn't know what I was talking about--most users aren't techies. We're just looking for solutions, not a bunch of technical mumbo-jumbo that makes no sense to us. With one tech support pointing the finger at the other tech support, how am I to know who's wrong? I can be cool under pressure but not when I've spent the last 5 days having tech support people on each end saying its the others fault.

Hello John,

You get yourself in a bind when you accuse without facts.

You stated that wix should fix the problem.
You stated that you definately without doubt that you pointed your domain to Wix.

In both instances you were wrong.

How do you expect help stating inacurate information.

First step for you is to get your registrar to point it to Wix.
Then if you have upgraded to premium to enter your bought domain name
in the editor.

Mario
