Default Removing Wix URL from Search Engine Results

This issue has been brought up by quite a few members.

When first creating a website on Wix, you need to make sure you click on
settings > and un-mark the “list in search engines”.
That way, your website won’t be read by search engines.
Then, when connecting your own domain name, you need to mark the “list in search
engines” thus activating this function.
After connecting your own domain name, the Wix URL link should vanish from the search engines search results.

What about those of us who use frameset or embed our site. The only meta tags being read are those inside Wix. I *know* Wix has said frameset sites don't read the meta tags in Wix, but this is untrue. I have found a number of Wix sites in frameset where the code being picked up by google are the meta tags inside Wix.

The only thing is, I don't know if these users have the boxed checked or not.

I pay for "no ads" but I do not have my domain pointed at Wix.

I'm totally with you Oleg. It must be the drop in my sugar levels.

Does anyone have a Twinkie?

Default appear w/o "list in search engine" checked.

I don't have "list in search engines" checked, and my site appears on google. (it's connected to my own domain).
is this an anomaly?

I am curious, what does unchecking the "list in search engines" actually do? How does it prevent a site from being listed?

I think it's best to follow Wix's default way of listing it on search engines, not sure exactly what you did there Jenn.

I recently posted that I would try unchecking the *list in search enengines* to see what the result would be and.......the result .... mydomain name url is now the only url link appearing in a google search and the wix url which use to also appear is not present anymore.
