Default Built to Last: Creating Healthy Minipages

Wix is a rich Internet multimedia environment and the temptation to "go crazy" and be swept away by the abundance of features is great.

However, graphically heavy minipages take longer to save, are longer to download and generally make an ideal host for bugs.

To maximize performance please follow these simple guidelines:

1) Limit the number of animations and effects appearing on the same page / assigned to the same object.

2) Downscale your media components before adding them. In the future, the editor will be able to do this automatically.

3) Distribute your content on several pages. This will improve loading times and overall load.

4) Note: Minipages load all their content at once. This will be fixed in the future but for now, be cautious and selective with the number of photos and media players you add.

I don't understand the attitudes with the users on this forum. If Wix sucks so bad stop using it. Even if you are unsatisfied you should treat the Wix staff with respect. Thanks for the update

I would have to agree with olegojo.

My site is not heavy at all and it's in minipages. I am getting the ghost images on the front page.. I try NOT to use animations, but I wanted to see if using an animation would bring a photo in without showing the ghost image, that didn't work.

Oleg and Jenny,

Please post links to your websites so we can see what we're dealing with here.

Talya

Jenny, I have asked you a number of times to post a link to 'your' site, but you don't.
Now Talya is asking you the same and for very good reason. Seeing your problem
can only help.
Mario
I hate posting to you because I always sound grumpy, but I'm not.
Really, truly and cross my heart

talya, i have been here long enough to know that provided urls will help you in solving issues. would you like me to post a list of 27 urls for sites i have created? one of my sites has already been selected as a wix site of the day, so i must be doing something right amjgroup.ru. nothing heavy about it, all the same i have had to redo it every time i log in. the problem is general & wix is still having problems with encoding languages & fonts. what concerns me the most is that management does not even want to be in contact with me knowing the experience i have had in utilizing wix to the best of it's ability, especially with russian. still waiting for a pm from somebody. cheers

p.s. one more url, mario & wix staff are well aware of the stress i have have with it www.funkylime.ru

Hi Oleg,

Just like you said, "let's get real". I didn't expect you to enclose 27 URLs; as Judie
Dench says in GoldenEye, "if I want sarcasm, Mr. Tanner, I'll talk to my children".

I fwded the link you provided to QA. I hope they're able to find the source of your trouble.

We're working to add more languages, I'll soon be able to post a "coming soon"
thread that will provide you some insight into our planned releases.

Talya

thank you talya for your clever reply, at least somebody is responding. mario doesn't seem to like me anymore, not to talk of the brass. i am also happy you have time to watch movies & remember quotes. when i talk to my children aged 7 & 23 it is not for the sake of boredom or sarcasm. my qualms are legitimate & require resolving before you have a lot of people facing the problems i am. if you think i am being sarcastic or rude, please use a different way of expressing your point. i would also like to thank you a lot for forwarding this to Q&A, the only problem is that they are well aware of this issue. as i can see mum's the word for now. keep up the good work

I don't get why premium members are paying for "500MB" worth of space and then told to keep our sites as light as possible.

There should really be NO ghost images.. I am sick of those on every Wix site.

Also, I have about 10 photos on my minipages site (all about 12-15kb). I should not have to lose that much quality on the photos just so my site will load quicker. A lot of the photos aren't crisp because I am trying to avoid the ghost imaging. I should NOT have to do this when I am paying for 500MB worth of space.

Something is seriously wrong here.. I doubt a site with 500MB would ever load on here.

If images or items on a site need to load, can we get rid of the ghost images and just have a round loader or something cooler? It just seems almost every wix site I visit has ghost imaging.

Does Wix check sites in IE, FireFox, and Safari? They should test the speed in each browser.

Really...
